Managed the development of more than 2,000 print communication products and a staff of 30+ writers, editors, designers and illustrators. Editor of two award-winning magazines. Founding editor of the Catholic Poetry Room and the Catholic Humor Channel. Publisher of Hope!, the story of seven older people with low incomes. Served as content consultant and on-screen expert for the public television documentary, A Legacy of Laughter, about the life of Erma Bombeck. Successfully pitched news stories to USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Catholic News Agency, The Fishing Wire, and the New York Daily News, among other major media outlets. Quoted as a marketing expert in Interactive Public Relations, Web Content Report, PR News and 1-to-1 Direct.
Marketing
Created concepts, wrote copy, directed art and project-managed national marketing promotions for IBM, World Book, and Rayovac. Created cover letters, brochures, and advertisements to support a $150 million fundraising campaign.
Rebranding
Took over a struggling national trade magazine, successfully increasing revenue so magazine could be sold at a significant profit. During COVID, turned a previously live event into an online production that increased attendance by 400% and moved the event from break-even to a $40,000 profit.
Podcasting
Producer and sometimes co-host of the Carmelite Conversations Podcast, the largest Catholic podcast focused on Carmelite spirituality. Producer and co-host of the award-winning Lure Love Podcast, including interviews with the Governor of Ohio and John Maclean, son of Norman Maclean who wrote the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book, A River Runs Through it. Founding audio-essayist and Midwest Correspondent for the Fish Nerds Podcast.
Strategic planning
Led strategic planning efforts in three organizations, Featured in the book, The Sustainability Mindset: Using the Matrix Map to Make Strategic Decisions. Volunteer consultant on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Communication Committee. Provided leadership on strategic planning committees for the Sisters of the Precious Blood, NeighborWorks Collaborative of Ohio, and Leading Age Ohio, among others. Masters in Business Adminstration with a focus on entrepreneurship and planning.
Winning
Won more than a dozen national awards for communications excellence, including an Educational Press Association Editorial Achievement Award, a Gold Apple from the National Educational Film Festival, and first place in the Outdoor Writers Association of America craft contest. Was a finalist for Foreword Magazine’s Book of the Year award and winner of Writer's Digest magazine's best author website award. Dayton Business Journal 40-under-40 Award winner, and winner of a Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau Ambassador Award.
